Diving is a magical adventure. Exploring deep below the surface of the sea is not something everyone gets to experience in their lifetime. And, as all divers know, to dive you need the right equipment. One of the most important things that you need is a wetsuit, like the NeoSport Premium wetsuit.

Since wetsuits work like a second skin to protect your body and body temperature while diving, it is important that you find the right one for you. The NeoSport Premium wetsuit claims that it is great for divers of any skill level and at an affordable cost. But does it live up to its promises? Is it what you need when exploring reefs, or floating over shoals of sparkling fish? And, is it the best bang for your buck?

All About the NeoSport Premium Wetsuit

As with all purchases, knowing about what you are buying is critical in helping you make an informed decision. The same applies to the NeoSport Premium wetsuit. A little background on the company helps to show, just because it’s affordable doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t a quality product.

Henderson Aquatics: Birthing a New Era of Water Sports

Although the NeoSport Premium wetsuit may seem like one of the newcomers to the wetsuit arena, the parent company, Henderson Aquatics, is the first wetsuit company to supply suits to the public.

The journey began in the 1960s, shortly after World War II, when the U.S. Navy decided they didn’t need divers anymore. For two business partners, Everett Edmund and Patrick Madison, that was an opportunity for something big. They bought the entire inventory of Mark V diving suits as surplus.

A few years later, scuba diving became a popular pastime and the two started selling “build it yourself” kits to scuba divers. The kit was mainly just a roll of neoprene, a bottle of neoprene cement, and a pattern for the suit. But constructing your own suits wasn’t very popular, so Henderson began to ship ready-made suits. Thirty years after Henderson aquatics started selling wetsuits, they developed the NeoSport line. This is a value line, including the NeoSport Premium wetsuit.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

What is the NeoSport Premium wetsuit made of?

The NeoSport Premium wetsuit, like most wetsuits, is made of neoprene. Neoprene is a from family of synthetic rubbers. And what makes neoprene special are two qualities of this synthetic material: its stability, and ability to maintain flexibility in a wide temperature range. These are two qualities that a good wetsuit must have, otherwise, it will end up falling apart very quickly due to the constant temperature changes they go through (sometimes in one dive).

How We Reviewed the NeoSport Premium Wetsuit

As we get to the meat of our NeoSport Premium wetsuit review, it’s only fair that we let you know how we went about giving you an unbiased review.

One of the main factors was the customer reviews (positive and negative) that this wetsuit received. That means you are getting information from a pool of people who have tried and tested the NeoSport Premium wetsuit in real life situations. The other major factor we looked at for this review was the integrity of the wetsuit as a whole, from the material to the stitching and gluing to the performance of the wetsuit.

These two factors make this a NeoSport Premium wetsuit review one you can totally trust.

NeoSport Wetsuits Men’s Premium Neoprene 1mm Full Suit

The NeoSport Premium 1mm wetsuit is an ultra-thin wetsuit that offers you the best of both worlds — the warmth of a full wetsuit and the comfort and flexibility of a sports skin.

Because it features durable flatlock stitched seams and a full back zipper, you’ll find it extremely easy to get into and out of. Whether you’re looking for a wetsuit that you’ll use as an extra layer or one you’ll use as the only layer, this NeoSport Premium wetsuit will definitely serve you well.

But bear in mind that being a 1mm wetsuit, it’s more suitable for warmer waters, particularly in the ranges of 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit. As for use, it is most suited for activities such as swimming, snorkeling, surfing, etc.

Some features that make the men’s NeoSport Premium wetsuit stand out are the adjustable Velcro collar and the internal key pocket. The Velcro collar makes it easy to create a comfortable seal around your neck without suffocating yourself. As for the internal pocket, well, let’s just say one day you’ll be glad to have it.

If you are looking for a great warm weather wetsuit, then this particular NeoSport Premium wetsuit is definitely worth considering. The excellent fit and flexible design will certainly make for a great wetsuit that won’t restrict your movements as you have yourself a great time in the water.

Customer feedback

Some of the biggest pros that come with this wetsuit are that it’s easy to put on and pull off. The material is very flexible and comfortable on the skin. Unfortunately, however, sizing can be a bit tricky for some people, even after using the sizing chart. Another pretty regular complaint about this suit is that it can give more of that “wedgie” feeling than other suits, however, after several uses, it seems to resolve.

As for price, this 3.6 out of 5 stars rated NeoSport Premium wetsuit will set you back between $70 and $95.

Looking for a great adventure in some warm waters? Then this NeoSport Premium wetsuit is the way to have yourself a nice day on the water. A ladies version is also available.

NeoSport Men’s Premium Neoprene 7mm Waterman John Wetsuit

If you are a fan of the long John type of wetsuit (also known as the farmer John), then you’ll love the NeoSport Premium Waterman John. This is a great wetsuit to consider whether you’re looking to wear it alone or with the matching step-in jacket (sold separately).

If you decide to wear the 7mm NeoSport Premium Waterman John in tandem with the step-in jacket, you’ll have to be cognizant of the fact that its thermal properties will change. You’ll find that the jacket overlaps at the torso and the combination of the two will end up giving you the warmth of a 14mm wetsuit.

As with most NeoSport Premium wetsuits, getting in and out of the Waterman John is easy. But this time, instead of a zipper, it comes with a handy Velcro shoulder entry system. The durability of this wetsuit is enhanced by flatlock seam stitches. These can withstand even the harshest of conditions.

Like every full NeoSport Premium wetsuit, the Long John comes with durable kneepads that offer excellent knee protection in and out of the water.

Customer feedback

One of the biggest advantages of this NeoSport Premium wetsuit is that it is one of the best values for your money that you can find. The only disadvantage it comes with is that unless you use it as an inside layer, you can’t use it for cold water diving.

This $55 to $160 wetsuit has a healthy rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Now, that’s a lot of satisfied customers.

For the style, comfort, and durability that this NeoSport Premium wetsuit offers, it definitely offers a great value that you can’t pass up.

NeoSport Wetsuits Men’s Premium Neoprene 5mm Step-In Jacket

If the Waterman John has piqued your interest, you may need to get the NeoSport Premium Step-In Wetsuit to match, especially if you intend on diving in colder waters. But if you are diving in warm waters, you can even use this NeoSport Premium wetsuit alone.

The NeoSport Premium Step-In Jacket features a heavy-duty front zipper that allows you to step in and out of your wetsuit easily. The Step-In wetsuit comes with long sleeves and short legs, which is why it is called a wetsuit jacket.

One thing you’ll appreciate about this NeoSport Premium wetsuit is its versatility. You can use it for any activity and in any water temperatures. Couple that with the high-grade neoprene and you have yourself the perfect underwater skin.

Customer feedback

The sturdy construction and build of this NeoSport Premium wetsuit make it a fan favorite among many warm water divers. Unfortunately, though, using it in colder waters will require you to use it in tandem with the Waterman John, and sometimes that combination can get a bit too hot.

The average rating of this wetsuit is 3.5 out of 5 stars and it is price ranges from $60 to $140. This is proof that this is indeed a worthy investment.

The NeoSport Premium Step-In wetsuit is the perfect wetsuit for warm waters and serves as an excellent layer in cold waters.

NeoSport Wetsuits Women’s Premium Neoprene 3mm Shorty

The NeoSport Premium 3mm Shorty is one of NeoSport’s bestselling wetsuits for very good reasons.

This NeoSport Premium wetsuit is the perfect all-round wetsuit for warm water as it is versatile. That means it can be used for many different water-based activities such as swimming, surfing, jet skiing, SCUBA diving, and many others. It also provides core warmth without getting too hot.

And like most NeoSport Premium wetsuits, the Shorty comes with sturdy flatlock stitches, an adjustable Velcro collar, a full length back zipper, lycra trimmed arm and leg seals, and a handy key pocket.

The 3mm NeoSport Shorty is quite a very functional wetsuit, and a very good looking one too. This is definitely one wetsuit that will inspire confidence as you do what you love most — spending time in the water.

Customer feedback

Versatility, excellent thermal properties, and a comfortable fit are just some of the many pros you’ll enjoy from this NeoSport Premium wetsuit. However, one of the few complaints that customers have about this wetsuit is that the armpits are a bit too big.

For this near perfect 4 out of 5 stars rated wetsuit, you’ll only have to fork out $45 to $90. That’s an absolute steal in my books. You’ll definitely be glad to have this multi-sport wetsuit as part of your sports accessories.

How the NeoSport Premium Wetsuit Stacks Up Against Other Brands

When it comes to wetsuits, one thing you’ll realize is that the market has many different brands. And because if that, picking a reliable one can be quite a daunting task. Let’s pit the NeoSport Premium wetsuit against some of its biggest contenders and see which is the better choice.

Mares Mens 1mm Coral Full Wetsuit

Mares is famous in the diving world for their exceptional and affordable diving computers. And when it comes to wetsuits, it seems they are also doing it right with the Mares Coral full wetsuit.

The internal fabric of the Mares Coral is made from Metalite, a fabric that reflects heat. This keeps heat loss at a bare minimum. You can use this as your main wetsuit or as a layer when diving in cold waters.

The biggest pros that the Mares Coral brings to the table are its lightweight and durable build plus its affordability. As for cons, the Mares Coral only has one — it’s not made of neoprene. That means it’s not as comfortable and flexible as the NeoSport Premium wetsuit.

The Mares Coral full wetsuit gets 4.0 out of 5 stars, mainly because of its price tag — it goes for $70 to $90.

While the Mares Coral full wetsuit offers great value for money, the fact that it is not made from neoprene is a huge disadvantage. The NeoSport Premium wetsuit wins this round.

Henderson 3mm Thermoprene Men’s Wetsuit Full-Length GBS

The Henderson Thermoprene wetsuit is a big name in wetsuit circles because simply put, it’s just a great wetsuit. But the one major factor that the Henderson Thermoprene has against it is that it is a very pricey wetsuit. This makes it difficult for beginners and others who don’t have deep pockets to invest in it.

The Henderson Thermoprene is definitely a high-quality wetsuit, which is its biggest selling point. Unfortunately, exceptional quality always comes with a big price tag. This is a disadvantage for many.

While the Henderson Thermoprene does not yet have a rating, it will burn a hole in your pocket with its price, which ranges from $150 to $180.

Although the Henderson Thermoflex and NeoSport Premium wetsuit are stablemates, the NeoSport offers more of a value for your money. That makes it the better choice for recreational divers as it is comfortable and yet won’t leave your bank account weeping.

ScubaPro Men’s Everflex Steamer 3/2mm Wetsuit

The ScubaPro Everflex is the tuxedo of diving. This fact is evident in the superb design and super high price tag. The ScubaPro features a design with fewer panels and thus seams than other wetsuits. It also uses solvent-free glue and blind stitched seams to keep everything in place, giving it a nice clean look.

Apart from being great looking and super comfortable, the ScubaPro Everflex is also a very durable wetsuit.

What’s not to love about the ScubaPro Everflex? Besides its hefty price tag of course ($365 to $380 to be exact). Other than that, a gorgeous design and very flexible material make this a wetsuit to drool over.

This could have easily been a 5-star wetsuit, but the price is in the stratosphere for most recreational divers. The stitching can be quite iffy at times as well. Because of that, it gets 3.5 out of 5 stars.

If your pockets are as deep as the sea you plan on diving in, then the ScubaPro Everflex might be the wetsuit for you. But if you are looking for a great wetsuit that will afford you the opportunity to enjoy the depths of the waters without sinking your budget, then the NeoSport Premium wetsuit will do just fine.

The Neosport Premium Wetsuit: For the Love of Water

Enjoying your favorite pastime needn’t be a headache because of high-priced accessories — especially a wetsuit. This is what Henderson aquatics set out to solve with the NeoSport Premium wetsuit. It is a very affordable and high-quality wetsuit that will serve you faithfully for many years to come. So go ahead and go premium with the NeoSport Premium wetsuit.
